“Blessings Under the Tree”

A Country Christmas Song

(Gentle acoustic guitar strumming begins, like snow falling on a tin roof)

Verse 1
Well, the fire’s cracklin’ in the old stone hearth,
And the stockings are hung in a row,
But the warmth I feel ain’t just from the flames—
It’s a love that’s continued to grow.
I look at the angel atop our tree,
And I’m humbled by all I can see…
God gave me more than I ever dreamed
In a world meant for just little ol’ me.

Chorus
So I’m thankin’ the Lord on this starry night,
For the gifts that don’t fit ‘neath the pine.
For a wife whose smile outshines the tree lights,
And a family gathered ’round, hand in mine.
For friends who drop by with a pie and a song,
And coworkers who feel like my own—
Yeah, my cup’s overflowin’, my heart’s full and growin’,
I’m the richest man this Christmas has known!

Verse 2
There’s laughter in the kitchen, a mess on the floor,
Little footprints on hardwood and tile,
Mama’s dancin’ with our girl by the backdoor,
And it just makes me want to sit still for a while.
And that text from my buddy just sayin’, “Hey, man,”
Or the card from the team down at work…
It’s the people, not presents, in God’s gracious plan,
That makes all of life’s corners perk.

Bridge
Some pray for sunshine or a new Chevrolet,
And I won’t say those things aren’t nice…
But when I count my blessings on Christmas Day,
I just count the same people twice.
‘Cause He didn’t just give me one or two—
He poured out His storehouse above,
And wrapped up my life in love, love, love.

Final Chorus
So I’m thankin’ the Lord on this starry, starry night,
For the gifts that don’t fit ‘neath the pine!
For a wife whose smile outshines the tree lights,
And a family gathered ’round, hand in mine.
For friends who drop by with a pie and a song,
And coworkers who’ve got my back bone to bone—
Yeah, my cup’s overflowin’, my heart’s full and growin’,
I’m the richest man this Christmas has known…
Just the richest man this Christmas has known.

Outro
(Guitar softens, gentle hum)
So if you see me grinnin’ from the porch to the pew,
It’s ’cause my Christmas prayer’s been answered true.
It’s a wife, a family, good friends, a good crew…
And it all started with a child in a manger,
Turnin’ my world brand new.
Merry Christmas, y’all.
Amen.

(Last guitar chord rings out softly, like a distant church bell )
